Previous issue date: 2016-04-29 / This study aimed to quantify the carbon dioxide emissions during the process of construction of twenty single-family residential units, each with a total area of 42.89 m?. Quantification was performed by using Energy Life Cycle Analysis (ELCA), a simplified way to conduct an analysis of environmental impacts. The ELCA was based on the methodology proposed by Tavares (2006), which uses the Embedded Energy (EE) to quantify the emissions of CO2 in the main materials used for construction, i.e: Steel, aggregates, red ceramic, lime and cement. The use of these materials in the construction of the studied units will emit 60,157.00 kilograms of CO2 into the atmosphere. Due to this high rate of emission, the replacement material was proposed using ceramic blocks in sealing, instead of alternative materials of soilcement blocks and concrete blocks. The replacement was proposed in order to verify if these materials have lower carbon dioxide emissions, so they could make the buildings less impactful to the environment. The use of concrete blocks is not advantageous because it would increase CO2 emissions by 1873.29 kg. Meanwhile, the use of soil-cement blocks would reduce CO2 emissions by 8.018,00 kg, thus making the construction of the units an activity with less environmental impact. This
would occur because the soil-cement block during manufacture, does not pass through the burning process, making it a sustainable material. / O presente trabalho teve por objetivo, quantificar as emiss?es de di?xido de carbono, durante o processo de constru??o de vinte unidades residenciais unifamiliares com ?rea total de 42,89 m?. A quantifica??o foi realizada, atrav?s da An?lise do Ciclo de Vida Energ?tico (ACVE), uma forma simplificada de conduzir uma an?lise de impactos ambientais. A ACVE foi baseada, na metodologia proposta por Tavares (2006), que utiliza a Energia Embutida (EE) para quantificar as emiss?es de CO2, dos principais materiais empregados pela constru??o civil: a?o, agregados, cer?mica vermelha, cal e cimento. A utiliza??o desses materiais na constru??o das unidades estudadas ir? emitir 60.157,00 kg de CO2 na atmosfera. Devido, a esse alto ?ndice de emiss?o, foi proposta a substitui??o dos blocos cer?micos que ser?o utilizados na veda??o, por materiais alternativos: blocos de solo-cimento e blocos de concreto. A substitui??o foi proposta a fim de verificar, se esses materiais n?o possuem uma emiss?o de di?xido de carbono inferior, pois assim poderia tornar as constru??es menos impactante ao meio ambiente. O emprego dos blocos de concreto n?o ? vantajosa, pois aumentaria em 1.873,29 kg a emiss?o de CO2. Enquanto isso, a utiliza??o dos blocos de solo-cimento, iria reduzir 8.018,00kg, tornando assim a constru??o das unidades, uma atividade com menor impacto ambiental. Isso ocorreria, pois o bloco de solo-cimento, durante a fabrica??o n?o passam pelo processo de queima tornando-o um material sustent?vel.
