La amputación de la extremidad inferior en el paciente diabético influye negativamente en sus estilos y calidad de vida, así como también en la percepción de los pacientes sobre su imagen corporal motivo por el cual se llevó a cabo el presente estudio titulado “Percepción del paciente con pie diabético sobre su imagen corporal. Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen. Lima-Perú 2009” el cual tiene como objetivo: Determinar la percepción del paciente con pie diabético sobre su imagen corporal en el aspecto físico, psicológico y social. Es una investigación de nivel aplicativo, tipo cuantitativo, método descriptivo de corte transversal. La población estuvo constituida por 50 pacientes diabéticos amputados en el periodo diciembre 2009. La técnica que se utilizó fue la entrevista y el instrumento fue un formulario modificado tipo Escala de LicKert. En cuanto a la percepción del paciente con pie diabético sobre su imagen corporal del 100%(50), 56% (28) tienen una percepción desfavorable frente a un 44% (22) favorable sobre su imagen corporal. En el aspecto físico tenemos que el 54%(27) tiene una percepción desfavorable frente a un 46%(23) favorable, en el aspecto psicológico tenemos que un 56%(28) tienen una percepción desfavorable frente a un 44%(22) favorable y en el aspecto social un 58%(29) tiene una percepción desfavorable frente a un 42%(21) favorable. Por lo que se concluye que se rechaza la hipótesis de estudio debido a que la mayoría presenta una percepción desfavorable referida en el aspecto físico por manifestar que antes de tener su miembro amputado se veían más atractivos; en el aspecto psicológico porque les mortifica pensar que podría perder más partes de sus extremidades inferiores, tienen temor de no volver a caminar con normalidad; y en el aspecto social piensan que son una carga para su familia y sienten que su familia muestra desinterés cuando piden ayuda para alguna actividad. Sin embargo existe un menor porcentaje que presenta percepción favorable en el aspecto físico indicando que si bien es cierto no cuentan con la extremidad, pero lo asumen y se sienten cómodos usando muletas y/o sillas de rueda; en el aspecto psicológico no les incómoda hablar sobre su estado de salud con otras personas y en el aspecto social no les desagrada su nuevo aspecto y están bien en compañía de su familia ya que son el mejor apoyo para seguir adelante con la enfermedad. / The diabetic amputated foot influences negatively the styles and quality of life, and in the perception of the patients on his corporal image I motivate by which the present qualified study was carried out “Perception of the diabetic foot patient on his corporal image in the HNGAI. Nevertheless there exists a minor percentage that presents favorable perception in the physical aspect indicating that though it is true they do not possess the extremity, but they assume it and feel comfortable using crutches and / or chairs of wheel, in the psychological aspect not they inconvenient to speak on his bill) of health with other persons and in the social aspect they does not displease his new aspect and they are nice in company of his family since they are the best support to continue forward with the disease.
