3D-utskrifter och teknikundervisningen : En genomgång av möjligheter och utmaningar i klassrummet

This study intends to investigate the view of 3D prints in different teaching environments among school staff. The study aims to address what kind of teaching opportunities 3D printing contributes for technology education, as well as any teaching challenges that 3D printing causes in the classroom. The information was collected by interviewing a group of nine teachers, a peda-gogical developer and a school principal about the thoughts and experiences with the use of 3D printing in education. The result shows that 3D printing creates positive opportunities in technology education because the process from model manufacturing, troubleshooting, re-mediation and to finished product can create learning opportunities according to the course syllabus for the Swedish technology subject. The technology of 3D printing also creates opportunities for discussions in the classroom about its consequences for humankind, society and the environment. These discus-sions are given considerable space in the Swedish curriculum of the technical subject. In addition to technology, there are also opportunities for cross-cutting work on subjects such as the mathematics were the 3D printer can be used multi-modally to make abstract sections more concrete. The study also shows challenges with its use in education. Time is seen as the biggest challenge with the 3D printer were understanding, proper handling, and planning is a good method for managing the tool properly. Finally, the safety of 3D printing is also discussed, were the tool is regarded as relatively safe. However, the presence of microplastics in connection with the plastic melting means that it should be placed where ventilation is present.
