Para tal, foram utilizados ratos da linhagem Wistar do gênero masculino com noventa dias de idade, pesando em média 300g. As variáveis estudadas foram: doença periodontal, Diabetes Mellitus e movimentação ortodôntica, analisando a perda óssea, densidade óssea e quantidade de movimentação dentária. A indução da Diabetes Mellitus foi realizada através da diluição de aloxana monohidratada em solução salina estéril, na concentração dose de 150 mg/peso em kg do rato. Após trinta dias da aplicação da aloxana para obtenção da diabetes mellitus experimental, os animais receberam a indução da doença periodontal, realizada através da instalação de um fio de seda preto 3-0 colocado na região cervical do primeiro molar inferior. Sete dias após a obtenção da doença periodontal experimental, os animais foram anestesiados para a aplicação da movimentação ortodôntica, com o aparelho posicionado entre o primeiro molar inferior e os incisivos inferiores. Em todas as análises microscópicas qualitativas e quantitativas, foram avaliados cortes histológicos longitudinais na região do osso alveolar onde o dispositivo ortodôntico foi instalado. Para a obtenção dos resultados de quantidade de movimentação dentária, foi utilizado um paquímetro medindo a distância entre a mesial do primeiro molar inferior e a distal do segundo molar inferior. Já para obtenção dos dados de perda óssea e densidade óssea, a morfometria foi realizada através um sistema de análise de imagem (ImageJ), avaliando a área de furca nos dentes com e sem as ligaduras. A estatística descritiva se baseou no cálculo de médias e desvio padrão, enquanto a estatística inferencial foi realizada através da análise de variância(ANOVA) e teste de Tukey, com nível.... / Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze histomorphometrically the influence of Diabetes Mellitus on tooth movement associated with induced periodontal disease in rats. It were used rats of male Wistar ninety days old, weighing on average 300g. The variables studied were: periodontal disease, Diabetes Mellitus and orthodontic movement, analyzing bone loss, bone density and amount of tooth movement. Induction of Diabetes Mellitus was performed by dilution of alloxan monohydrate in sterile saline, at the concentration 150 mg/kg weight of rat. Thirty days after the alloxan application for obtaining the experimental diabetes mellitus, animals received induction of periodontal disease, carried out by installing a black silk thread 3-0 placed in the cervical region of the first lower molar. Seven days after obtaining the experimental periodontal disease, the animals were anesthetized for the application of orthodontic movement with the device positioned between the first lower molar and the lower incisors. In all quantitative and qualitative microscopic analysis, longitudinal histological sections were evaluated in the region of the alveolar bone where the orthodontic appliance is installed. To obtain the results of amount of tooth movement, were used a parking meter measuring the distance between the mesial of the mandibular first lower molar and the distal of the second molar. To obtaining the data bone loss and bone density, Morphometry was performed using an image analysis system (ImageJ), evaluating the furcation area on teeth with and without the bands. Descriptive statistics was based on the calculation of means and standard deviation while inferential statistics were performed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's test at 5% significance level. The results showed that diabetes mellitus has a deleterious effect on the animal, especially when associated with periodontal disease and orthodontic movement.
