When property owners are about to renovate and rebuild the tenants will need a temporary set-up. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how a temporary solution for a grocery store may be designed. The thesis describes a comparison between three alternative solutions: modular building, tent building and a site-based construction. The study is limited to Swedish climate and four different subjects (viability, cost, sustainability and logistics). The results in this thesis are primarily based on interviews carried out with knowledgeable persons within the subject. The results show that to build a site-based construction is too expensive given the short time the building is to be used. The tent building is a new concept for this kind of business but it could be a good solution if more research is to be done on the subject. The modular construction is a relatively cheap, sustainable and safe choice of a temporary building and it’s recommended because of its simplicity.
