Previous issue date: 2009-03-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional state and motor development in children from 3 to 24 months of age based on the standards of reference established by the World Health Organization (WHO). This is characterized as descriptive type case study research, with the 22 children who were subjects enrolled in the day care center Creche Conde Modesto Leal (Joinville-SC), with ages ranging from 03 to 24 months (15.10 ±5.08); 14 girls (14.64 months ±5.06) and 8 boys (15.91 months ±5.02) were evaluated. As an instrument to evaluate the nutritional state, a research sheet was directed to the parents; and for motor development, the motor standards of the WHO Anthro 2007 program developed by the WHO were used, in which the children were evaluated in their own study environment and in a collective way with comfortable clothing. Analysis of the data proceeded by means of descriptive statistics and parametric statistics. In analysis of the results, it was observed that in relation to the nutritional state in the weight/length index, the children presented results above the normal distribution curve of the WHO; in the weight/age index, the boys were found above; for the length/age index, both the boys and the girls were below the standards; and in the BMI/age index, for the boys and both sexes appeared above the standards. After analysis of the general averages and means through the z-score, the children were classified by the WHO criteria as well nourished; in relation to motor development, no child presented impediment. Comparing the indexes of the nutritional state and motor development, it was observed that in the weight/length index, 7 children were within the score -1 and 4 in the scores 1 and 2; in the weight/age index, 2 children were found below with a score of -1 and 3 above with a score of 1; and in the BMI/age index, 1 child was within the score -1 and 2 with a score of 1. Classifying these children, 20 (90%) were classified as well nourished and 2 (10%) as overweight. The conclusion was drawn that the children have favorable environmental factors for their development, such as health care, adequate nourishment and conditions of hygiene. The low rate of children who have poor overweight or obesity is highlighted, but forgetting the concern in relation to overweight and obesity as they are more related to extrinsic factors, as for example hypocaloric eating habits. In motor development, both the day care center as well as the family environment are adequate for good development of the children, however pointed with observation of the parents being of fundamental importance for good accompaniment of the child. / O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o estado nutricional e desenvolvimento motor em crianças de 03 a 24 meses, a partir dos padrões de referência estabelecidos pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS). A pesquisa é caracterizada como descritiva tipo estudo de caso, sendo os sujeitos 22 crianças matriculadas na Creche Conde Modesto Leal (Joinville-SC), com idade variada de 03 a 24 meses (15,10 ±5,08) avaliou-se 14 meninas (14,64 meses ±5,06) e 8 meninos (15,91 meses ±5,02). Como instrumento, utilizou-se para avaliar o estado nutricional uma ficha encaminhada aos pais e para o desenvolvimento motor foram utilizados os padrões motores do programa WHO Anthro 2007, desenvolvido pela OMS, onde as crianças foram avaliadas em seu próprio ambiente de estudo e de forma coletiva com roupas confortáveis. A análise dos dados procedeu-se através da estatística descritiva e estatística paramétrica. Na análise dos resultados observou-se que, em relação ao estado nutricional no índice peso/comprimento, as crianças apresentaram-se acima da curva de distribuição normal da OMS. No índice peso/idade, os meninos encontraram-se acima. Para o índice comprimento/idade, tanto meninas quanto meninos estavam abaixo dos padrões. No índice IMC/idade evidenciou-se para os meninos e ambos os sexos acima dos padrões. Após a análise das médias gerais e medianas pelo escore Z, as crianças foram classificadas pelos critérios da OMS em eutróficas. Em relação ao desenvolvimento motor nenhuma criança apresentou atraso. Comparando os índices de estado nutricional e desenvolvimento motor, notou-se que no índice peso/comprimento 7 crianças estavam dentro do escore -1 e 4 nos escores 1 e 2, no índice peso/idade 2 crianças encontravam-se abaixo com escore de -1 e 3 acima com escore de 1. No índice IMC/idade 1 criança estava dentro do escore -1 e 2 com escore de 1. Classificando essas crianças, 20 (90%) foram classificadas como eutróficas e 2 (10%) com sobrepeso. Concluiu-se que as crianças possuem fatores ambientais favoráveis para o seu desenvolvimento, tais como assistência à saúde, alimentação adequada e condições de higiene. Salienta-se o baixo índice de crianças com sobrepeso ou obesidade, mas não deve-se esquecer a preocupação em relação ao sobrepeso e obesidade por estes estarem mais relacionados a fatores extrínsecos, como exemplo uma alimentação hipocalórica. No desenvolvimento motor, tanto a creche como o ambiente familiar estão adequados para o bom desenvolvimento das crianças, porém salienta-se a observação dos pais de fundamental importância para um bom acompanhamento dessa criança.
