Orientador: Antonio Carlos Manduca Ferreira / Banca: João Batista Kochenborger Fernandes / Banca: Nilton Eduardo Torres Rojas / Resumo: O presente trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a existência da economia de escala na piscicultura em tanque-rede (TR), mediante avaliação econômica de empreendimentos piscícolas, com investimentos e custos em escala crescente. Coletou-se dados primários de três empreendimentos em TR com criação de Tilápia (Orechromis nilóticus e Oreochromis spp), no estado de São Paulo, um deles com 40 TR ao qual denominou-se como empreendimento P, outro com 67 TR ao qual denominou-se empreendimento M, e finalmente um empreendimento com 100 TR ao qual denominou-se empreendimento G. Avaliou-se os impactos nos custos de produção e os efeitos nos resultados econômicos ( variações do custo em relação ao número de TR e produção), para isso utilizou-se a estrutura de custo operacional e custo total de produção, assim como a análise de fluxo de caixa. Através dos resultados pode-se observar que existe economia de escala na piscicultura em tanquerede, na medida que se incrementa a escala de produção diminui o custo total médio de produção. Conclue-se que existe uma economia de custos decrescentes (R$ 1,70 /kg; R$ 1,67 /kg e R$ 1,53 /kg, para os empreendimentos P, M e G respectivamente) . Comprovou-se também que o custo variável médio influencia diretamente ao ponto de equilíbrio, quer dizer que na media em que o custo variável médio se incrementa, também incrementa-se a quantidade mínima de produção para não entrar em prejuízo . A ração foi o insumo de maior participação (43,3% ; 58,3% e 62%; para P, M e G respectivamente), sua participação aumenta na medida que se incrementa a escala de produção. A análise de sensibilidade mostrou alta sensibilidade destes empreendimentos sendo que o empreendimento M é o menos sensível às variáveis analisadas (numero de tanque-rede, preço de venda, preço da ração, etc.). O analise de custo evidenciou que o empreendimento de... / Abstract: The present study had an objective to economic analysis of enterprises on tilapia culture in the cages, with investments and costs in growing scale. It was collected primary dates of three enterprises of tilapia (Orechromis nilóticus and Oreochromis spp.), in the São Paulo State. One of them with 40 cages to which is called enterprise P, other with 67 cages to which is called enterprise M, and finally an enterprise with 100 cages to which is called enterprise G. Analyzed the impacts in the production costs and the effects in the economical results (cost variation in relation to the number of cages and production), for this was used the operational cost and production total cost structures, as well as the cash flow analysis. Through the results it can be observed that scale economy exists in the fish cage aquaculture, when the increasing of the production scale it reduces the medium total cost of production.
