The purpose of the research was to investigate the robustness to unidimensionality of the Birnbaum three-parameter logistic model. / The study considers content as well as factorial structure when defining unidimensionality. Beginning with a one-factor subtest of the Scholastic Aptitude Test mathematics section, items from preselected content areas of the same SAT were introduced to change the essential dimensionality of the test. Two subtests of the SAT mathematics section and the total section were compared. For each test, true scores of examinees were calculated and examinees ranked accordingly. The results affirm a high consistency of rank of examinees across and within tests of different factorial structure and content. / Source: Dissertation Abstracts International, Volume: 46-04, Section: A, page: 0957. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--The Florida State University, 1985.
