La presente investigación presenta como objetivo general explorar el rol mediador del
involucramiento paterno (IP) en la relación entre gatekeeping materno (GM) y regulación
emocional (RE) en preescolares de Lima-Metropolitana. Como objetivos específicos, se
plantea explorar las diferencias de dichas variables a partir de datos sociodemográficos
relevantes, así como también evaluar la relación entre las variables estudiadas. Para ello, se
evaluó a 63 madres residentes de Lima con edades entre 25 y 45 años (M = 34.56, DE = 5.80)
de hijos de 36 a 72 meses (M= 56.57, DE= 15.45) y con parejas de 25 a 45 años (M= 36.19,
DE= 5.74). Se utilizó los siguientes instrumentos: Parental Regulation Inventory (PRI), Escala
de Involucramiento Parental: actividades de cuidado y socialización y Emotion Regulation
Checklist (ERC) para gatekeeping de la madre, involucramiento del padre y regulación
emocional de los niños/as respectivamente. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en las
variables a partir de las características sociodemográficas estudiadas. Por otro lado, se encontró
una correlación inversa entre las subescalas de aliento (GM) y labilidad (RE), y directa para
criticismo (GM) y labilidad (RE), resaltando la relación entre la respuesta materna en la
capacidad regulatoria del preescolar. En cuanto al objetivo general, se encontró una mediación
parcial de las subescalas: cuidado directo (IP) e indirecto (IP) para la relación entre criticismo
(GM) y labilidad (RE); así como una mediación completa de las mismas subescalas para la
relación entre aliento (GM) y regulación (RE). Losresultados muestran que la relación entre la
conducta materna y la regulación emocional es explicada por la participación paterna en
actividades que implican un mayor contacto y cuidado del niño/a. / The general objective of this research is to explore the mediating role of paternal involvement
(PI) in the relationship between maternal gatekeeping (GM) and emotional regulation (ER) in
preschoolers in Metropolitan Lima. As specific objectives, it is proposed to explore the
differences of these variables based on relevant sociodemographic data, as well as to evaluate
the relationship between the variables studied. For this, 63 mothers residing in Lima between
25 and 45 years of age (M = 34.56, SD = 5.80) with children from 36 to 72 months (M = 56.57,
SD = 15.45) and with partners from 25 to 45 were evaluated. years (M= 36.19, SD= 5.74). The
following instruments were used: Parental Regulator Inventory (PRI), Parental Involvement
Scale: care and socialization activities and Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC) for mother's
gatekeeping, father's involvement and emotional regulation of children respectively. No
significant differences were found in the variables based on the sociodemographic
characteristics studied. On the other hand, an inverse pressure was found between the
encouragement (GM) and lability (RE) subscales, and a direct pressure for critical (GM) and
lability (RE), highlighting the relationship between the maternal response on the preschooler's
regulatory capacity. Regarding the general objective, a partial mediation of the subscales was
found: direct care (IP) and indirect care (IP) for the relationship between critical (GM) and
lability (RE); as well as a full mediation of the same subscales for the relationship between
encouragement (GM) and regulation (RE). The results show that the relationship between
maternal behavior and emotional regulation is explained by paternal participation in activities
that involve greater contact and care of the child.
