The performance of a concrete floor joist section under a simulated vehicle wheel load is investigated in order to determine the feasibility of this configuration as a bridge deck. Special attention is paid to the thin 2-1/2 inch slab, and analyses are attempted using the elastic plate theory and the ultimate yield line theory.
