Previous issue date: 2014 / The new National High School Exam (ENEM) is oriented in an reference matrix, which is divided into skills and abilities and considers the four knowledge areas of high school (Humanities; Natural Sciences; Languages and Codes; and Mathematics). It has currently being used as a means of entry to all federal universities. In this research we show the importance of educational themes of skills and abilities, having as the main objective to develop through an analysis of the chemistry part, an investigation of the characteristics present in the new format of the ENEM (years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012). Initially, bibliographic survey was conducted for support the theoretical and methodological basis, through texts of the Federal Constitution, Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB), the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCN), the National Curricular Parameters (PCN) and the ENEM’s bidding. It also shows a theoretical study of the skills and abilities, followed by a statistical analysis of the items of chemistry, in the area of natural sciences and their technologies, present in the new ENEM exams. Finally, we applied a survey, using the methodology of field researching, to verify the students’ understanding about the desired competencies and skills defined by the National Institute of Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP). Thus, this study contributes to the understanding and differentiation between competences and skills in the chemistry’s area of knowledge, and results in a manual containing all chemistry questions of the new ENEM, including their objects of knowledge, skills and abilities. / O Novo Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM) é orientado segundo uma matriz de referência,que está dividida em competências e habilidades, considerando as quatro áreas de conhecimento do ensino médio (Ciências Humanas e suas Tecnologias; Ciências da Natureza e suas Tecnologias; Linguagens, Códigos e suas Tecnologias e Matemática e suas Tecnologias). Atualmente, este exame está sendo utilizado como forma de ingresso em todas as universidades públicas federais. Nessa pesquisa é ressaltada a importância das temáticas educacionais de competências e habilidades, tendo como principal objetivo desenvolver - por meio da análise dos itens de química - uma investigação sobre as características presentes nas avaliações do Novo ENEM nos anos de 2009, 2010, 2011 e 2012. Inicialmente, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico, para a fundamentação teórico-metodológica, nas documentações e textos da Constituição Federal, Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDB), Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais (DCN), Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) e Edital do ENEM. Em seguida, fez-se um estudo teórico sobre as competências e habilidades, e, posteriormente, uma análise estatística dos itens de química, na área de Ciências da Natureza e suas Tecnologias, presentes nas avaliações do Novo ENEM. Por fim, aplicou-se um questionário, utilizando a técnica de pesquisa de campo, para verificar o entendimento dos alunos, que estão cursando o 3º ano do Ensino Médio, a respeito das competências e habilidades definidas pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). Desta feita, o presente estudo contribuiu para o entendimento e a diferenciação entre as competências e as habilidades na área de conhecimento da química, tendo como produto um manual contendo todas as questões de química do Novo ENEM, detalhando seus objetos de conhecimento, competências e habilidades.
