Previous issue date: 2001 / Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar, no romance A grande arte (1983), de Rubem Fonseca, os traços (temáticos, estilisticos, etc.) que fazem essa obra aproximar-se e os que a fazem desviar-se da tradição do gênero policial, particulannente as características que se referem ao cômico e ao mito. Esses elementos, embora não sejam específicos da narrativa policial, marcam presença peculiar nesse tipo de texto (o aspecto mítico, por exemplo, compreende a imagem da cidade como labirinto). No romance aqui enfocado, tais componentes estabelecem com as narrativas policiais paradigmáticas relações tanto de aproximação quanto de desvio, as quais fazem de A grande arte mais que um romance policial singular / Abstract: The aim of this work is to analyze the traits (theme, style, etc.) which make the novel A grande arte (1983), by Rubem Fonseca, entail to the tradition of the detective story, as well as those features that make it deviate from the norms of this kind of account, particularly the comic and the mythic aspects. Although these elements are not specific characters of the detective story, they appear in it in a singular way (the mythical aspect, for example, comprises the image of the city as a labyrinth). As to the novel focused in this investigation, the myth and the comic set both proximity and deviation relationships with regard to the classical detective stories. And the peculiar shapes they take upon A grande arte make of this novel more than an unusual detective story / Mestrado / Literatura Brasileira / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária
