Previous issue date: 2015-03-09 / This study has its focus on the initial formation of Portuguese teachers. It aims at investigating the beliefs of future teachers about reading and its teaching. The theoretical basis of this study is, therefore, knowledge of the researches about teachers formation; besides studies about reading and literacy and also the theories about beliefs.
The data to be analyzed were collected in a course of Letras from a private university of São Paulo. The subjects, altogether 45, are students from the last two semesters of the course. To collect the data, the following instruments were used: discussions in format of focal group, autobiographic narratives, beliefs inventory and interviews.
The main instrument, especially elaborated to this thesis, thus unpublished, was an inventory of beliefs about reading and its teaching, composed by 67 assertions, divided into 12 categories and an open question, beyond a questionnaire with personal information from the subjects. This inventory was elaborated from the information raised in the focal groups and in the autobiographic narratives; and the responses were discussed in the interviews.
It was possible to realize, through the data analysis, that there is a strong presence of beliefs about reading and its teaching in these research subjects. For being future Portuguese teachers, this fact gains special importance, because these students will give classes, one day, and they will do it based not only upon what they learnt in their teaching course, but also upon what they have learnt throughout their lives in contact with school. They will teach, in other words, not only based on their theories, but also based on their beliefs / Este estudo tem como foco a formação inicial do professor de português. O objetivo é investigar as crenças de futuros professores sobre leitura e seu ensino. Compõem o quadro teórico desta tese, portanto, conhecimentos advindos das pesquisas sobre formação de professores; além dos estudos sobre leitura e letramento e, também, as teorias sobre crenças.
Os dados a serem analisados foram coletados junto a um curso de Letras de uma universidade particular da cidade de São Paulo. Os informantes, ao todo 45, são alunos dos dois últimos semestres do curso. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: discussão em formato de grupo focal, narrativas autobiográficas, inventário de crenças e entrevistas.
O principal instrumento, especialmente elaborado para esta tese, portanto inédito, foi um inventário de crenças sobre leitura e seu ensino, composto por 67 asserções, divididas em 12 categorias e uma pergunta aberta, além de um questionário com informações pessoais dos informantes. Este inventário foi elaborado a partir das informações levantadas nos grupos focais e nas narrativas autobiográficas e as respostas foram discutidas nas entrevistas.
Foi possível perceber, por meio da análise dos dados, que há forte presença de crenças sobre leitura e seu ensino no grupo de informantes desta pesquisa. Em se tratando de futuros professores de português, este fato ganha especial importância, pois esses sujeitos darão aulas, um dia, e o farão baseados não só no que aprenderam na licenciatura, mas também no que aprenderam em toda a sua vida de contato com a escola. Vão ensinar, em outras palavras, baseados não só em suas teorias, mas também em suas crenças.
