Previous issue date: 1999 / Resumo: Ao investigar as representações fotográficas de Virgílio Calegari, que têm por tema Porto Alegre, verifica-se que elas carregam em si toda uma leitura da urbe que um dia captaram. Tendo em vista informações relativas a memória da cidade que essas imagens fotográficas venham a comunicar, considera-se a possibilidade de analisar a construção imagética de Porto Alegre nas duas primeiras décadas do século XX, presente nas diversas facetas de seu cotidiano. A relevância dessa pesquisa reside em desenvolver uma aproximação deste cotidiano através da fotografia, considerando ambos como objeto interdisciplinar, compreendidos sob perspectiva histórico-antropológica, a fim de estabelecer suas possibilidades e seus limites. Para tanto objetiva-se ao estudar o "olhar" de Virgílio Calegari sobre a cidade de Porto Alegre, perceber o imaginário cotidiano na construção imagética de seu acervo fotográfico / Abstract: When investigating the photographic representations of Virgílio Calegari, wich have Porto Alegre as theme, we verify that they carry a view of the city that they once captured. Having in mind information related to the memory of the city that these photographic images way comunicate, we considerer the possibility of analysing the imagery construction of Porto Alegre in the first two decades of the twentieth century present in the several facet of its quotidianoThe rrelevance of this research resid in developing an approach to this quotidian through photography, considering both as interdisciplinary object, understood a historical- antropological perspective in order to establish its possibilities and limits. To achieve this objetive we aim to study Virgílio Calegari' s "view" of the city of Porto Alegre, percieve the daily imaginary in the imagery construction of this photographic prodution / Mestrado / Mestre em Multimeios
