_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present study deals with the representation of the social world which is built by photographic repertoire and orality. It analyses, through a photography workshop carried out with the dwellers of Riacho Fundo II, satellite city of the Federal District, the manner in which every participant photographs elements of his/her daily life. From such images, there is an attempt to reelaborate his/her relationship concerning the social as well as the symbolic worlds which are represented in the pictures. This research aims at observing both the memory and the imaginary roles present in this process and at verifying the connection to the image reference, the subject in which it was originated by and through photography by seeking indications of this appropriation in the ways it is narrated. Thus, this study blends visual and oral discourses in order to understand the functioning, process of production of the senses, and structures that reveal, shape and transform the identities of those who create them.
