Le henné (Lawsonia inermis) est cultivé dans la région de Koulikoro au Mali. La vente de ses feuilles constitue une source de revenu pour les producteurs. L’utilisation du henné comme produit cosmétique est répandue dans tout le pays. Malgré l’importance de la plante sur les plans économique et social, très peu d’études ont été réalisées sur son potentiel. Cette étude avait pour but, d’une part, de comprendre les éventuels obstacles à une future introduction du henné dans la commune du Méguétan et d’autre part, de réaliser une première évaluation de sa rentabilité financière. Il ressort de l’enquête réalisée auprès de 135 agriculteurs, que le henné est une culture rentable et que les agriculteurs de la commune du Méguétan sont favorables à son introduction dans leur système de production. Mais certaines contraintes existent, notamment le manque de débouchés commerciaux et la faiblesse du prix payé aux producteurs. / Henné (Lawsonia inermis) is cultivated in the area of Koulikoro in Mali. The sale of the plant’s leaves constitutes a source of income for the producers. The use of henné as cosmetic products is widespread in all the country. Despite its economic and social importance for the population, very few studies were carried out on this plant. The purpose of this study was on the one hand to understand the possible obstacles for a future introduction of henné’s plant into the Méguétan commune, and on the other hand to carry out a first assessment of its financial profitability. It arises that henné is a profitable crop and that farmers of Méguétan commune are favorable to its introduction into their production system. But some constraints exist, particularly the lack of outlets for trade and the low price paid to the producers.
