Studies on the morphology and chemical composition of the roots of several annual and perennial grasses

Root and top development of an annual grass, barley (Hordeum sativum), and of three varieties of perennial grass, orchard grass (Dactylis glomerata) is followed during the first year from seeding. Reserve carbohydrate and lignin levels for both root and top at several dates are given. Attention is also directed towards the development of techniques for root study, and to root interactions of grass and legume seedlings in pure and mixed stands. / Land and Food Systems, Faculty of / Graduate
