This study is a text analysis of the media debate about honor killings in the last 20 years. I want to contribute to increased knowledge about honor killings and crimes of honor. Through this increased knowledge I wish to prevent honor killings and crimes of honor. The result of this study shows a progress of the debate and through the years have the understanding of the problem improved. Authorities have begun to react and the public have become more aware about what honor killings are and in which way it can assert. Honor killings can occur all in religions, although could patriarchal remains in certain cultures have influence. Moreover, old habits like traditions and expectation from the society concerning how the man is supposed to control the women of the family and their sexuality.
