Previous issue date: 2011-02-03 / With the character of historical and literary research, the intent of this study is to examine the literature produced during the military dictatorship for children and young people, particularly in the 1970s, demonstrating how this literature makes claims about the historical living moment and its importance for the construction of Brazilian identity and culture. It started from the hypothesis that there is in the Brazilian literature for children a strong denunciation of the system introduced by a Coup d’etat in 1964, causing what it called the Military Dictatorship in Brazil. Literature for children published during this time was extremely creative to circumvent the censorship. It produced a speech that was apparently said not much, but really well represented the socio-historical context faced by the writers of the time. It was selected, as research corpus, fifteen (15) books of the writers Ana Maria Machado, Lygia Bojunga and Ruth Rocha for observe how the dictatorship is represented in the stories, what forms of control and domination that permeate throughout the narratives used by dictators, which means to fight against the dictatorship are pointed in the books, and what was the role of the children in that process. It concludes that there is a strong complaint of the dictatorial system in the books for children of the 1970s. This literature is extremely relevant and important not only for its historical contents, but especially by the creativity of the writers becoming references to future producers of literature for children in Brazi / Com o caráter de pesquisa histórico-literária, a intenção deste estudo é a de analisar a produção literária infantil e juvenil produzida no período da Ditadura Militar, particularmente nos anos 1970, demonstrando como essa literatura faz denúncias sobre o momento histórico vivido e sua importância para a construção da identidade e cultura brasileiras. Partiu-se das hipóteses que há na literatura infantil brasileira uma forte denúncia do sistema instaurado a partir de Golpe de Estado em 1964, originando daí o que se chamou Ditadura Militar no Brasil. A literatura infantil publicada nesta época foi de extrema riqueza criativa para burlar a censura, ou seja, foi produzido um discurso que aparentemente não dizia muito, mas na verdade representava bem o contexto sócio-histórico vivido pelos escritores da época. Selecionou-se como corpus de estudo 15 (quinze) obras das escritoras Ana Maria Machado, Lygia Bojunga e Ruth Rocha para se verificar como a Ditadura está representada nas histórias, quais as formas de controle e dominação que perpassam ao longo das narrativas utilizadas pelos ditadores, que meios de combater a ditadura são apontados nos livros, e qual o papel da criança nesse processo. Conclui-se que há uma forte denúncia ao sistema da Ditadura nas obras infantis dos anos 1970. Essa literatura é de extrema relevância e importância, não só pelo seu conteúdo histórico, mas principalmente pela criatividade dos escritores tornando-as referências para futuros produtores da literatura infantil brasileira.
