Previous issue date: 2008-08-07 / Ageing and become old is not an easy path, and, set these terms, it depends on the
conceptions of individual and cultural concepts of society. During the ageing several
changes occur through physical changes, emotional, social, and economic. These
changes, particularly those related to organic part of the body, are responsible for the
large outbreak of diseases in old age. The complications of the disease at this stage
can be considered as the cause for hospitalization of these subjects. The period of
hospitalization is regarded as a moment where various procedures are carried out
and responsible for great moments of stress for these patients. This stress can be
fought during hospitalization is the treatment of diseases of Caring comes together.
This study aimed to ascertain whether there is proposed the creation of the act of
care from physiotherapists, in addition to know what the definitions of old, old age
and aging for these professionals. To achieve this, the research work was developed
based on qualitative kind of semi-structured interviews with 13 physiotherapists who
exercise their duties in Hospital Ferreira Machado, located in Campos dos
Goytacazes / RJ. The results of this research showed that despite the professional
show different opinions related to ageing, as only physical changes, they make the
care and treat hand together / Envelhecer e tornar-se velho não é um caminho fácil, assim como,
conceituar estes termos, pois depende das concepções individuais e das
concepções culturais da sociedade. Durante o envelhecimento diversas
alterações acontecem, passando por modificações físicas, emocionais,
sociais, e econômicas. Essas mudanças, principalmente as relacionadas a
parte orgânica do corpo, são as grandes responsáveis pelo aparecimento
das doenças na terceira idade. As complicações das doenças nesta fase
podem ser consideradas como as causas para hospitalização destes
sujeitos. O período da hospitalização é considerado como um momento
onde diversos procedimentos são realizados e responsáveis por grandes
momentos de stress para estes pacientes. Este stress pode ser combatido
se durante a hospitalização o tratamento das doenças vier acompanhado
do Cuidar. Este trabalho teve como objetivo proposto verificar se existe a
realização do ato de Cuidar por parte dos fisioterapeutas, além de saber
quais as definições dos termos velho, velhice e envelhecimento para estes
profissionais. Para a realização deste, trabalho a pesquisa desenvolvida foi
do tipo qualitativa baseadas em entrevistas semi-estruturadas com 13
fisioterapeutas que exercem suas funções no Hospital Ferreira Machado,
situado em Campos dos Goytacazes/RJ. Os resultados desta pesquisa
mostraram que apesar dos profissionais mostrarem opiniões diferentes
relacionadas ao envelhecimento, como alterações físicas exclusivamente,
eles fazem com que o Cuidar e o tratar andem juntos
