Defesa: Curitiba, 2002 / Inclui bibliografia e anexos / Resumo: Esta pesquisa apresenta algumas reflexões sobre a cultura escolar desenvolvida na Escola Alemã/Colégio Progresso, na cidade de Curitiba, durante o período de 1930-1942. Criada por imigrantes alemães, em meados do século XIX, ao longo de sua trajetória este estabelecimento de ensino se viu obrigado a redefinir seus objetivos, em face à política de nacionalização, num processo que se acelerou durante o período analisado com a instauração do Estado Novo. Para interpretar estas mudanças e compreender a singularidade desta cultura, foram analisadas fontes plurais - os documentos produzidos pela escola, a imprensa, a legislação, as memórias construídas - cujas representações deram visibilidade a uma escola de caráter dual. No momento em que expandiu seu atendimento a toda a população
curitibana, a escola passou a sofrer pressões, interna e externamente, que impediram a efetivação de seu reajuste aos moldes impostos pelo Estado. / Abstract: This study presents some considerations over the scholastic culture developed in the German school Colegio Progresso, in the city of Curitiba during the period of 1930 to 1942. Formed by German immigrants, in the middle of the 19th century, during its existence this teaching establishment was obliged to redefine its objectives in the face of the nationalisation policy, in a process which accelerated during the period analised with the structuring of the New State. To interpret these changes and understand the singularity of this culture, various sources were analised – the documents produced by the school, the press, the legislation, the memories – whose representation gave visibility to a school of dual character. In the moment in which it expanded its attention to cover the entire Curitiban population, the school began to suffer pressure, internally and externally, which impeded the effectiveness of its readjustment to the patterns required by the State.
