Previous issue date: 2010-06-10 / This work evaluates the performance of the sector of the eletroeletronics industries
between the years of 1998 and 2008 and its possible performance s determinative. Starting
itself of the historical survey since its foundation until the current days, the study presents the
characteristics and the segments of this sector as well as the description of its performance in
relation to the revenues, trade balance, level of job and structure of market and also it presents
a boarding of the performance s determinative that had affected this sector in the period. The
research procedure applied is the bibliographical research. A econometrical calculation also is
used as form to deepen the empirical inquiry of the subject. The first conclusion of this work
is that this sector, composed for eight segments, has heterogeneous characteristic, that means,
the behavior of each segment, in many aspects, is distinct and with own characteristics. In
such a way the possible performance s determinative also are diverse: Limitation of
productive scale, qualified man power, illegal importations, logistic and customs
infrastructure, absence of industry of components, tax burden, lack of financing for
investment in the sector, technological intensity, expansion of the production and the income,
governmental investment, energy crisis, uncertainty politics, balance trade, exchange rate,
inflation, consumer credit, expansion of the domestic market, consumption of energy, renewal
of the installed park, among others determinatives, these affect directly or indirectly the
performance of the sector. It can be concluded that the GDP, exchange rate, energy crisis,
uncertainty politics and the world-wide and Chinese economy warming had been the
predominant determinative of performance that affected the sector between 1998 and 2008 / Este trabalho avalia o desempenho do setor das indústrias eletroeletrônicas entre os
anos de 1998 e 2008 e os seus possíveis determinantes de desempenho. Partindo-se do
levantamento histórico desde a sua fundação até os dias atuais, o estudo apresenta as
características e os segmentos deste setor bem como a descrição do seu desempenho em
relação ao faturamento, balança comercial, nível de emprego e estrutura de mercado e
também apresenta uma abordagem dos determinantes de desempenho que afetaram este setor
no período. O procedimento de pesquisa utilizado é a pesquisa bibliográfica. Um cálculo
econométrico também é utilizado como forma de aprofundar a investigação empírica do tema.
A primeira conclusão deste trabalho é que este setor, composto por oito segmentos, possui
característica heterogênea, ou seja, o comportamento de cada segmento, em muitos aspectos,
é distinto e de características próprias. Desta forma os possíveis determinantes de
desempenho também são diversos: Limitação de escala produtiva, mão-de-obra qualificada,
importações ilegais, infra-estrutura logística e aduaneira, ausência de indústria de
componentes, carga tributária, falta de financiamento para investimento no setor, intensidade
tecnológica, expansão da produção e da renda, investimento governamental, crise energética,
incerteza política, balança comercial, taxa de câmbio, inflação, crédito ao consumidor,
expansão do mercado interno, consumo de energia, renovação do parque instalado, entre
outros determinantes, estes afetam direta ou indiretamente o desempenho do setor. Pode-se
concluir que o PIB, taxa de câmbio, crise energética, incerteza política e o aquecimento da
economia mundial e chinesa foram os determinantes de desempenho predominantes que
afetaram o setor entre 1998 e 2008
