Previous issue date: 2011-04-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study sets out to analyse the migratory process towards Joinville, within the 70and 80 decades, which encompassed the period of industrial development during thephase of the Brazilian miracle . In order to accomplish this, there was the need tounderstand its process of industrialization since its genesis, from the arts and craftsworkshops in the XIX century, to its peak of industrial production in the 70 decade.The latter strikingly contributed to the arrival of migrants and to the extraordinaryraise in the number of inhabitants of the city. The analysis of the urbantransformations through the lenses of the migrants and employees of the city hallyielded a reflexion about the condition of migrants from to the moment they left theirtowns until now. The analysis focused on the description of their life route based onreports about the causes, frustrations, fears, negrets and/or relief for havingmigrated, as well as their insertion in to the Joinville society and in to the industriallabour. The migration, which has caused and may still be causing some inhabitantshardships, is (1) for the migrants the way found to seek a new financial andprofessional life, and (2) for the city its strengthening and realization as an urban andindustrial city / Este trabalho analisa o processo migratório em direção ao município de Joinville,entre as décadas de 1970 e 1980, compreendidas pelo período de crescimentoindustrial na fase do milagre brasileiro . Para isso se fez necessário entender seuprocesso de industrialização, desde sua gênese, nas oficinas artesanais e demanufaturas do século XIX, até seu auge da produção industrial na década de 1970,que contribuiu significativamente para a entrada de migrantes e para o extraordinárioaumento no número de habitantes do município. Através de uma análise dastransformações urbanas sob a ótica do migrante e de funcionários da prefeituramunicipal, foi realizada também uma reflexão sobre a condição do migrante, desde asaída de seu município de origem até o presente momento, priorizando a descriçãode sua trajetória de vida, através de relatos sobre as causas, frustrações, medo,arrependimento e/ou alívio por ter migrado, assim como sua inserção na sociedadejoinvilense e no trabalho na indústria. A migração, que para alguns moradores locais,causou, e pode continuar causando, transtornos, para o migrante é a alternativaencontrada para buscar uma nova vida financeira e profissional e, para o município,o fortalecimento e a concretização de cidade industrial e urbana
