Diante da relevância da proposta da escola inclusiva, no momento atual da educação, em que vários sistemas de ensino estão se propondo a buscar novas alternativas para tornar esse discurso uma prática efetiva, propus-me a investigar o processo de inclusão em uma escola pública estadual de Santa Maria/RS. O trabalho teve como objetivo geral analisar o processo de inclusão das pessoas com necessidades educacionais especiais, especificamente alunos com deficiência mental e distúrbios de aprendizagem, nas classes comuns de ensino e avaliar se esse processo possibilita mudanças no desempenho escolar e nas relações afetivas. Os sujeitos desta investigação foram os alunos com necessidades educacionais especiais incluídos no ensino comum, as professoras das salas de recursos e do ensino comum, e a equipe diretiva. F oram realizadas as entrevistas semi-estruturadas com pais, professoras e equipe diretiva, observações participantes em sala de aula, aplicação do teste sociométrico nas turmas dos alunos e coleta de pareceres pedagógicos bimestrais dos alunos, feitos pelas professoras da classe. A partir desta coleta, que se deu no decorrer de 2000, realizei a análise e discussão dos dados que me possibilitaram fazer considerações sobre o processo de inclusão escolar. Em relação aos alunos incluídos, houve mudanças positivas e negativas em termos de desempenho escolar, pois algumas dificuldades foram superadas, outras permaneceram e algumas surgiram no decorrer do processo de ensino-aprendizagem. Sobre as relações sócio-afetivas, os alunos incluídos não são rejeitados pelo grupo de sala de aula, mas estão indiferentes a ele. Os resultados apontam para a reestruturação e renovação da escola para atender às necessidades dos alunos, dos professores, da equipe diretiva e dos pais, já que para todos era um processo desconhecido que gradativamente está sendo apropriado pela comunidade escolar. / At this very moment, before the relevance of the inclusive education proposal, in which many different educational systems are looking for new altematives to put this discourse into practice, I have started to investigate the process of school entrance. In this study I have analysed what people with special education necessities must go through in order to get into a public school in Santa Maria!RS. However, the general purpose of this work was to investigate the admission process of some intellectually limitated students into regular groups, evaluating if this process would allow them to have school and social acceptance improvements. The study observed teachers from the assistance rooms and from regular schools, and the management group as well. Also some interviews were done with the parents, the teachers and the directorate. I had watched some classes, applied a sociometric test, and collected bimestrial pedagogical reports about the students. Throughout the year of 2000, based on the material, I analysed and discussed the data, which gave me the possibility of making some considerations about the school entrance process. As for the students, there were positive and negative changes dealing with educational improvements. Some of the difficulties were ali overcome, others remained and some of them appeared during the teaching-leaming process. In what concems the social acceptance, it was noticed that the special students were not rejected by the group, but they were indifferent to it. The results show the need of the school rearrangement and renovation in order to fill ali the participants necessities. As it was a totally unknown process for them that gradually is being adopted by the regular school community.
