Previous issue date: 2010-10-14 / The present dissertation investigated similarities and differences between two teaching conceptions which have their own purposes and principles. The professional technical teaching and its education directed at meeting the market requirements and the environmental education with its precepts of equality and social education for environmental sustainability. According to the Law of the Environmental Education National Policy - PNEA 9.795/99, the environmental education should be promoted not as a separate subject, but "articulated at all levels and modalities of the educational process" with principles set out in eight sections of its art. 4th. Therefore, the research aimed at the perception and the understanding that technical education teachers have of the environmental education and the environment as well as the way they link the environmental theme with the technical education. The methodology adopted was a dialectically oriented analysis of the Institutional Pedagogical Project of the school in which the research was carried out, the IF-Sul-rio-grandense Campus Pelotas and the speeches collected from interviews and focus groups with teachers from all the technical courses of this institution. The considerations made at the end of this study show that the technical education teachers of the researched institution have a low awareness and understanding of the environmental education and the environment, perceiving environmental education and technical education as different teaching practices and without any possibility of articulation, where interdisciplinarity is understood just as a synonym of pre-requisite between two subjects of the same course / A presente dissertação investigou aproximações e distanciamentos entre duas concepções de ensino com objetivos e princípios próprios. O ensino técnico profissional e sua educação voltada ao atendimento das exigências do mercado e a educação ambiental com seus preceitos de igualdade social e educação para a sustentabilidade ambiental. Segundo a Lei de Política Nacional de Educação Ambiental - PNEA 9.795/99, a educação ambiental deve ser promovida não como disciplina em separado, mas ―articulada em todos os níveis e modalidades do processo educativo‖ com princípios estabelecidos em oito incisos do seu art. 4o. Portanto, a pesquisa objetivou a percepção e o entendimento que professores do ensino técnico têm de educação ambiental e de meio ambiente e a maneira como esses articulam a temática ambiental com o ensino técnico. O caminho metodológico trilhado foi uma análise dialeticamente orientada do Projeto Pedagógico Institucional da escola que ambientou a pesquisa, o IF Sul-rio-grandense Campus Pelotas e das falas colhidas em entrevistas e grupo focal com professores de todos os cursos técnicos dessa instituição. As considerações feitas no final desse trabalho evidenciam que os professores do ensino técnico da instituição pesquisada apresentam uma percepção e um entendimento reduzidos de educação ambiental e meio ambiente, concebendo educação ambiental e ensino técnico como modalidades díspares de ensino e sem possibilidade de articulação, onde a interdisciplinaridade é entendida apenas como sinônimo de pré-requisito entre duas disciplinas do mesmo curso
