Defesa: Curitiba, 2006 / Inclui bibliografia / Área de concentraçao: Exercício e esporte / Resumo: Esta pesquisa relata como o jornal Folha de São Paulo divulgou as informações provenientes dos Jogos Olímpicos (JO) de Atenas realizados em agosto de 2004. O objetivo foi analisar a estrutura e a formatação do encarte denominado Atenas 2004, produzido exclusivamente para cobrir os JO, buscando identificar quais as mensagens, os símbolos e os signos sociais divulgados pelo conjunto de informações que somam os discursos jornalísticos textuais, as imagens e fotografias, a publicidade e seus elementos gráficos. Embasada na soma de três vertentes metodológicas, a saber, a Sociologia Reflexiva de Pierre Bourdieu, a Análise de Conteúdo e a Análise Semiológica, a pesquisa foi realizada de forma que seus procedimentos metodológicos não limitassem a produção das análises do material. Na busca e compreensão de como se estruturam as redes de mídia no Brasil, abstraiu-se o sub-campo denominado "jornalismo esportivo" para dar a dimensão de como o campo jornalístico se interrelaciona com o esportivo, e quais suas linhas de força que dinamizam a relação. Neste sentido, portanto, evidenciaram-se três categorias que se repetiram ao longo da cobertura jornalística e que permitem a elucidação de como agem algumas linhas de força neste sub-campo. Além das categorias analisadas, os mecanismo de ação do campo jornalístico - que se reproduzem no sub-campo jornalístico esportivo - foram denotados e evidenciados para fomentar a estruturação dos mecanismos implícitos que regem a intersecção dos campos jornalístico e esportivo. Nesta medida, algumas considerações foram realizadas balizadas nos achados empíricos que guiaram as inferências analíticas. / Abstract: This research tells as the periodical Folha de São Paulo divulged the information proceeding from Olympics Games (OG) of Athens carried through in August of 2004. The objective was to analyze the structure and the formatting of periodical notebook called Atenas 2004, produced exclusively to cover the OG, searching to identify to which the messages, the symbols and the social signs divulged by the set of information that add the literal journalistic speeches, the images and photographs, the advertising and its elements graphical. Based in the addition of three delineation sources, to know, Pierre Bourdieu's Reflexive Sociology, the Analysis of Content and the Analysis Semiotics, the research was carried through of form that its delineation procedures did not limit the production of the analyses of the material. In the search and understanding of as if they structuralize the nets of media in Brazil, the called subfield was losted in thought "sport journalism" to give the dimension of as the journalistic field if it interrelates with the sport, and which its lines of force that dynamisms the relation. In this direction, therefore, three categories had been proven that if had repeated to the long one of the journalistic covering and that they allow the briefing of as some lines of force in this subfield act. Beyond the analyzed categories, the mechanism of action of the journalistic field - that if they reproduce in the sport journalistic subfield - had been denoted and evidenced to foment the structure of the mechanism implicit that conduct the midiáticos intersection of the sport field. In this measure, some considerations had been carried through marked out with buoys in the empirical findings that had guided the analytical inferences.
