"Junior college libraries have been concerned with the development of standards for junior college libraries for a member of years. The first effort in that direction was begun in 1930 with the organization of the Junior College Libraries Round Table of the American Library Association. When in 1938 the Round Table became a subsection of the Association of College and Reference Libraries of the American Library Association this endeavor was carried on by its Standards Committee. Since 1940, when it became the Junior College Libraries Section of the same Association, it continued its Standards Committee for the purpose of following through on its objective, the development of effective evaluative criteria. This paper will show the many developments that have taken place through meetings and other activities, in the effort to reach standards that would be acceptable for adoption"--Introduction. / Typescript. / "August, 1954." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts." / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 65-71).
