De osynliggjorda männen. : En analys av svenska statliga dokument rörande mäns våld mot kvinnor.

Men's violence against women has been a social problem which, through generations, has received various representations in politics. The problems have been defined on the basis of a male norm, which only provides measures for women to increase their gender equality, security and protection. How has this influenced the problematization of violence in society, but above all, how can the formulation of the representation of the problem affect the visibility of underlying causes of violence's reproduction? What perspectives are invisible in the context of other perspectives that may dominate the discourse of violence against women? Maria Wendt Höjer (2002) has studied in her thesis "Rädslans politik" how the violence has been problematized in politics from the 1900s and beyond, and this paper will do an analysis of political document that was produced 2014-2017. With a qualitative content analysis examined committee directives based on what is visualized in the documents and then analyzed with Carol Bacchis (2009) "What is the problem represented to be?"-approach to see what is invisible when it comes to the ruling politicians performance about the cause of men's violence against women. The directives differ because one directive is asking for a national strategy and the other is for a more focused action-policy assignment but can be compared when dealing with the same subject. The comparison, however, shows some dissimilar results in terms of assumptions and what is visible and invisible in the problematization of men's violence against women. The results shows that the ideological starting points for achieving gender equality goals need to be synchronized to get a good problematization about the underlying causes of violence.
