Läsförståelse och läsmotivation i de tidiga skolåren : en studie om hur lärare kan arbeta för att utveckla läsförståelse och läsmotivation i klassrummet.

The aim of the present study was to describe how teachers do when teaching primary school children in reading comprehension and how they motivate children to read and promote their interest in reading. Four primary school teachers were interviewed about the methods that they use in their teaching. The study also presents the teachers views on the methods and resources available for them and whether they use different methods when teaching children with reading difficulties. The study also used observations of the teachers at work. The results showed that the teachers worked in a similar way when teaching reading. They worked on children's vocabulary and showed them ways how to ask questions about the contents of the text in beforehand and during reading. The teachers also agreed on the methods that should be used when teaching children with reading difficulties. All the teachers pointed out that their teacher education did not provide them with skills needed to teach reading comprehension. All the teachers were, however, satisfied with the methods and resources that their schools were offering.
