This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of fertilizing with composted sewage sludge with the function to substitute the fertilizer with mineral nitrogen, with the equivalent of this element present in the residue, irrigation with treated sewage effluent on soil chemical parameters (pH, Om, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Ci, Fe, Mn, Zn, and V% CTC), nutritional contents of the leaf tissue (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn), the quality and quantity of fruit of orange trees `Valencia´ and heavy metal contents in leaves and fruits. The experiment was carried out in containers with a capacity of 500 liters of soil in the open air at the Department of Soil and Environmental Resources, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences – UNESP/Campus Botucatu – SP, contemplating 6 doses of composted sewage sludge representing 0,25, 50, 75, 100 e 125%, respectively, of the N recommendation for the cultivation of orange tree and 2 types of irrigation water (treated water and treated sewage effluent). Drip irrigation was based on soil replenishment of water quantity transpired the day immediately preceding, both in treatments with water as treated in wastewater treatments. After collected and tabulated, the data were subjected to analysis of variance and compared by comparison Tukey test (p < 0.05), statistical analyzes were performed in software Mintab 16, Sigstat 3.5 and Excel. No influence of sludge compost on the physical characteristics of the fruit, but the treatments irrigated with wastewater yielded higher values in unit weight, and all treatments have fruit rounded shape classifying them as fruit for the table. Regarding the chemical characteristics of the fruits, total soluble solids, the acidity and ratio was decreasing with the increase in dose of composted sludge and wastewater exhibit favourable characteristics of fruit with industrial purpose, and the application of composted sludge caused a ...
