This work aimed to study the resistance of soybean cultivars to Anticarsia gemmatalis Hübner. The work was divided into two parts, the first being that evaluated the attractivity and non-preference and leaf consumption, having choice or no choice, the new-hatched larvae in leafs of ten different soybean cultivars. We used the soybean cultivars BRS 284 (conventional), Anta 82 RR, P98Y77 RR, NA 7321 RR, BRS Valiosa RR, SYN 1182 RR, M-SOY 8527 RR, SYN 9070 RR, AS 8197 RR and M-SOY 8867 RR. In the test used of attractivity was used the system arena, in Petri platesof 20 cm diameter, with ten replicates. In each repetition (arena), 15 new-hatched larvae of A. gemmatalis were released, assessing the total number of larvae attracted to leaf discs of cultivars at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 60 minutes after the liberation of caterpillars in the center of the arena. For the evaluation of non-preference in a free-choice test, procedures and materials used were the same as those used in the test of attractivity. In the test, no choice, the materials were individually in Petri plates of 6,0 cm diameter, were released inside 15 new-hatched larvae per replicate, with 10 repetitions. For evaluation, was counted the total number of caterpillars that were feeding on leaf discs of cultivars after 24 hours of release. To avaluate leaft consumption each leaf disc of 3.14 cm2 leaf area, provided to new-hatched larvae of A. gemmatalis, was used the software AFSoft v1.1®. The second part, was conducted studies of the biology of A. gemmatalis, feeding larval with leaf cultivars BRS 284 (conventional), Anta RR 82, P98Y77 RR, M-SOY 8527 RR, SYN 9070 RR and M-SOY 8867 RR. Being, 30 larvae per plant variety, from cresting maintenance, were maintained in individual Petri plates (6,0 cm diameter by 2,0 cm high) until pupation. The pupae were placed in glass tubes...
