Previous issue date: 2005 / Resumo: Zornia Gmel. pertence à família Leguminosae, subfamília Papilionoideae, tribo Aeschynomeneae e subtribo Poirettinae. Apresenta distribuição pantropical e contém 75 espécies, sendo 12 exclusivas do Brasil. Neste gênero, um problema tem sido verificado relativo à circunscrição das dez espécies que foram anteriormente incluídas em Zornia diphylla (L.) Pers. ¿sensu Bentham¿: Z. laevis Schlecht. & Cham., Z. leptophylla (Benth.) Pittier, Z. sericea Moric., Z. thymifolia Kunth, Z. trachycarpa Vogel, Z. curvata Mohl., Z. gemella (Willd.) Vogel, Z. glabra Desv., Z. latifolia Sm. e Z. reticulata Sm, em especial das cinco últimas, que são as mais difíceis de serem identificadas, pelo fato de que os seus limites, como estabelecidos, são mal definidos e sobrepostos. O objetivo geral desta tese foi o de revisar a circunscrição destas cinco espécies morfologicamente semelhantes pertencentes ao complexo Z. diphylla s.l., Z. curvata, Z. gemella, Z. glabra, Z. latifolia e Z. reticulata, e avaliar as relações entre elas com base em estudos anatômicos e fenéticos. A presente tese está dividida em três capítulos: 1) Análise multivariada de espécies americanas do complexo Zornia diphylla (L.) Pers. (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae). No estudo fenético, os dados foram tratados pelos métodos UPGMA e PCA e nos dois métodos existem evidências de dois agrupamentos bem definidos, um constituído por Z. reticulata e Z. glabra e o outro por Z. latifolia,
Z. gemella e Z. curvata, mas com possibilidade de separação de dois subgrupos em cada um deles. 2) Levantamento das estruturas secretoras e seu significado taxonômico em folíolos de espécies americanas do complexo Z. diphylla (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae, Aeschynomeneae). A ocorrência de idioblastos secretores no mesofilo e a posição das cavidades possuem valor taxonômico, pelo reconhecimento de três grupos, sugerindo a reavaliação dos limites de Z. curvata com Z. gemella e de Z. latifolia com Z. reticulata. 3) Estudos taxonômicos em espécies americanas do complexo Z. diphylla (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae, Aeschynomeneae). Considerando os resultados obtidos nos estudos anatômicos e fenéticos, quatro dos cinco táxons pertencentes ao complexo Z. diphylla estudados foram aceitos, Z. gemella, Z. glabra, Z. latifolia e Z. reticulata, sendo que Z. curvata foi sinonimizada com Z. gemella. Uma chave de identificação, descrições, ilustrações, dados sobre floração e frutificação e distribuição geográfica das quatro espécies aceitas foram elaborados / Resumo / Abstract: Zornia Gmel. belongs to the family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionoideae, tribe Aeschynomeneae and subtribe Poirettinae. The genus presents a pantropical distribution and has seventy-five species, with twelve of these species known only from Brazil. In this genus, a problem that has been found is related to the circumscription of the ten species that were included previously in Z. diphylla (L.) Pers. ¿sensu Bentham¿: Z. laevis Schlecht. & Cham., Z. leptophylla (Benth.) Pittier, Z. sericea Moric., Z. thymifolia Kunth, Z. trachycarpa Vogel, Z. curvata Mohl., Z. gemella (Willd.) Vogel, Z. glabra Desv., Z. latifolia Sm. and Z. reticulata Sm. From these, the last five are more difficult to identify, due their specific limits are usually badly defined and overlayed. The general purpose of this thesis was to review the circumscription of these five species that are morphologically similar and belonging to Z. diphylla s.l. complex, Z. curvata, Z. gemella, Z. glabra, Z. latifolia and Z. reticulata, and to evaluate the relationship between the species based on anatomical and phenetic studies subsiding the taxonomy. The present thesis is divided into three parts: 1) Multivariate analysis of american species of Z. diphylla (L.) Pers. complex (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae). In the phenetic study, the data were analyzed using the UPGMA and PCA methods, and both methods showed evidence of two clustering well defined, one group was made up of Z. reticulata and Z. glabra, and the other group was made up of Z. latifolia, Z. gemella and Z. curvata, but with possibility of separation of two subgroups at each one. 2) Survey of the secretory structures and their taxonomic significance in the leaflets of american species of Z. diphylla (L.) Pers. complex (Leguminosae, apilionoideae, Aeschynomeneae). The occurrence of secretory cavities has a taxonomical value, that is the recognition of three groups, proposing the revaluation of the limits of Z. curvata with Z. gemella and of Z. latifolia with Z. reticulata. 3) Taxonomical studies in american species of the Zornia diphylla (L.) Pers. complex (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae, Aeschynomeneae). Through the results of anatomical and phenetic studies, four of the five taxa studied belonging to the Z. diphylla complex have been accepted, Z. gemella, Z. glabra, Z. latifolia and Z. reticulata. Z. curvata was synonymized with Z. gemella. Identification key, synonymy, description, data on flowering and frutification and geographic distribution of the four species accepted was provided. / Abstract / Mestrado / Biologia Vegetal / Mestre em Biologia Vegetal
