Previous issue date: 2008 / Though it may be possible to verify so many cultural, scientific and mainly technological advancements, that does not signify we have reached more dignity, more quality of life or quality in relations. Human relations do not follow that evolution. Humanity is in a deep crisis, because it has lost many reference parameters. Trying replace these parameters, we have appealed to reason, in order to find a solution; but also its efficacy has been questioned because it could not resolve all these exigencies. For that, humanity has losed its sense, needing something to indicate the right way to follow on. Interested in examining that problematic of human sense, in philosophical terms, are at the crossoads of our experiences in the fields of Psychology and Philosophy in Emmanuel Levinas, an audacious proposal: the ethics is assumed as a first philosophy; the responsibility precides liberty; and the you is before I. His proposal remit to a new way to act and to consider human being living in society. To that human being belong the task to build his identity and to find a sense, only belonging to him; but in that task the Other assume a fundamental role: it is by meeting the Other, in an attitude of aperture and welcome, ethics find its space of realization. The Other is presented by a Face, that is a sense giver, in the measure that he welcomes his alterability. / Embora seja possível constatar inúmeros avanços culturais, científicos e principalmente tecnológicos, isso não significa que se tenha atingido maior dignidade, mais qualidade de vida ou qualidade nas relações. As relações humanas não acompanham essa evolução. A humanidade encontra-se mergulhada em uma crise de sentido, pois perdeu inúmeros parâmetros de referência. Na tentativa de suprir tais parâmetros, recorreu-se à razão para que esta servisse de baliza; porém, sua eficácia também passou a ser questionada por não conseguir responder a todas as exigências necessárias. Assim, a humanidade se encontra órfã de sentido, ou de algo que lhe indique um caminho seguro que aponte para um sentido. Interessados em aprofundar essa problemática, do sentido do humano, em termos filosóficos, encontramos no cruzamento de nossas experiências nas áreas da Psicologia e da Filosofia em Emmanuel Levinas uma proposta audaciosa: a ética é assumida como a filosofia primeira; a responsabilidade precede a liberdade; e, o Tu é anterior ao Eu. Sua proposta remete a um novo modo de agir e pensar o ser humano que vive em sociedade. A este (ser humano) cabe a tarefa de construir sua identidade e de encontrar um sentido, a qual é exclusivamente sua; porém, nessa (tarefa), o Outro assume um papel fundamental: é no encontro com o Outro, numa atitude de abertura e acolhimento que a ética encontra seu espaço de realização. O Outro se apresenta por meio de um Rosto, o qual é doador de sentido, na medida em que o eu acolhe sua alteridade.
