This diploma thesis deals with the development of interest-based adult education in the Czech lands since the end of Second World War until now. The aim is to provide a view on the development of the functions, aims and content of interest-based adult education based on the study of historical documents. Historical and political context is mentioned. Chosen strategic and legislative documents, which influenced the development of interest-based adult education, are analysed in detail. Both the specifics and the institutional support of interest- based adult education in each epoch are described.
