This thesis seeks to study the ways in which circularity structures Réjean Ducharme's last novel, Gros mots. Circularity takes many forms in the novel: from narration to ideas, by way of multiple mirror effects and processes of self-representation (such as mise en abyme). I will study how circularity generates effects of reiteration and reduplication, as well as the repercussions of those effects on the novel's main character/narrator. This analysis of intertextuality (notably of Ducharmian intertextuality) highlights its contribution to the novel's circularity, which reflects certain aspects of the novel's construction even as it formulates a commentary on the acts of reading and writing and on literature itself. The autopastiche created by the novel's mise en abyme enables Ducharme to comment on his own writing and the writer-character position that he has come to occupy in the literary field. / L'objectif de ce mémoire est d'étudier la façon dont la circularité structure le dernier roman de Réjean Ducharme, Gros mots, dans son ensemble. Les multiples jeux de miroirs et procédés d'autoreprésentation dans Gros mots, tels que la mise en abyme, créent une circularité qui se déploie à plusieurs niveaux, de la narration aux idées. Nous observerons les divers effets de ressassement et de réduplication causés par cette circularité, ainsi que leurs répercussions sur le personnage principal et narrateur du roman. L'analyse de l'intertextualité (notamment l'intertextualité ducharmienne) révèle que celle-ci participe également à la circularité globale du roman, reflétant certains de ses aspects et introduisant une réflexion sur la littérature, l'écriture et la lecture. L'autopastiche qu'est le cahier de la mise en abyme est l'occasion pour Ducharme de commenter sa propre pratique et le personnage d'écrivain qu'il est devenu dans le champ littéraire.
