This thesis examines three novels by Italian women writers: Althénopis by Fabrizia Ramondino (1981), L'amore molesto by Elena Ferrante (1992), and Madre e figlia by Francesca Sanvitale (1980), all of which deal with a difficult or conflictual mother-daughter relationship. The narrators reconstruct the figures of their mothers after their death through writing, trying to establish a connection or to come to terms with them. This paper looks at how the maternal body, identified as a locus of both desire and conflict for the daughter, is treated in the three works. Moreover, the formal aspect of each text will be examined, to show how both the genre and the structure represent an indication of whether or not the narrator's conflict has been successfully resolved by means of writing. / Cette thèse examine trois romans d'écrivaines italiennes: Althénopis de Fabrizia Ramondino (1981), L'amore molesto de Elena Ferrante (1992) et Madre e figlia de Francesca Sanvitale (1980), chacun desquels traite d'une relation difficile ou conflictuelle entre mère et fille. Chaque narratrice reconstruit au moyen de l'écriture la figure de sa mère après sa mort, en essayant d'établir une connexion ou se réconcilier avec elle. Ce travail analyse la façon dont le corps de la mère, identifié comme lieu à la fois de désir et de conflit pour la fille, est abordé dans les trois œuvres. De plus, l'aspect formel de chaque texte sera examiné, afin de montrer la façon dont le genre littéraire et la structure indiquent si la narratrice a réussi ou non à résoudre, par le biais de l'écriture, les conflits reliés à la relation avec la mère.
