Giorgio Bassani. Soggettività e discorso nelle arti visive

In the light of Bassani's lifelong interest in the visual arts and the history of art, the analysis indentifies the connection between a number of art-historical intertexts and specific psychological patterns operating in Il romanzo di Ferrara in terms both of imagery and structure of the text. Moreover, the analysis shows the several homologies existing between the sequence of the textual configurations and the intradiegetic itinerary of an authorial subjectivity. Objective of the thesis is to demonstrate how Bassani's ambivalent relation towards the aesthetic discourse of his times translates into his critical and deconstructive appropriation of it.
