Luftvärnet i förändringen / Swedish Air Defense Artillery in the Change

The change that occurred in the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Air Defense Artillery since the Cold War has been the subject of discussion in both the political and military debate. And with the recent Air Defense Committee Report at hand, it will be interesting to examine whether the views expressed in the debate are reflected in the report. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the view of the anti-aircraft role has changed since the Cold War. The results of the survey show that the view of the Swedish Air Defense Artillery has changed. Unlike Air Defense Artillery during the Cold War, the desire is that today's Air Defense Artillery will be developed to counter RAM-targets and targets at high altitude. The Air Defense Artillery is nowadays also a desired part in protecting own troops in missions overseas. Though, the traditional tasks to protect Ground Forces or airbases still remain in spite of the reduced number of units in the Air Defense Artillery.
