Undersökning av vattenväxters betydelse för sötvattenlevande evertebrater.

This bachelor´s thesis is a study of freshwater plants and if there is a significance of its presence due to different aquatic invertebrates in a landscaped wetland. The study is made by the request of the wetland project LIFE-Goodstream by Hushållningssällskapet Halland County in Southwest of Sweden. Many wetland areas in Sweden have been lost since the beginning of the 19th century due to mankind who needed more acres to be able to survive. The natural habitats that were lost were the homes of many water living invertebrates and water plants. Many scientific articles and other sources talk mostly about a specific invertebrate or a specific water plant. There is a lack of investigating the smaller water plants and the invertebrates together. By this study I hope to awaken an interest in more scientific studies of this subject. By collecting invertebrates in a specific landscaped wetland in Halland County in 2018 I wanted to see if there is a connection between three chosen smaller water plants and two other chosen places with less or no water plants. I also wanted to look at the invertebrate’s amount at the different places both individuals and species and if there was a difference between the during summer and autumn. One of the results showed that there was a connection between the places with water plants. I came to the conclusion that it may not depend on what kind of small water plant one used in a landscaped wetland. However, the importance is that the smaller water plants are used and that the bigger water plants should be kept maintained to not take over the wetland.
