Previous issue date: 2016-08-25 / Sem bolsa / Os Mbya Guarani são um subgrupo indígena de fala Guarani cujo contingente representa uma boa parcela da população indígena latino-americana, especialmente aquela situada nas regiões sul e sudeste brasileiras. No ano de 2002, o etnólogo Walmir Pereira, à época diretor do Museu Antropológico do Rio Grande do Sul, e a historiadora Paula Caleffi, no período vinculada ao Programa de Pós Graduação em
História da Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), realizaram um registro sonoro pioneiro da música Mbya Guarani no Estado, em particular junto aos Mbya da tekoa (aldeia) Nhundy (Campo Aberto), localizada na cidade de Viamão, que resultou no álbum fonográfico Yvy Ju – Caminho da Terra sem Males. Hoje, passados 14 anos, este trabalho retorna ao mesmo local e à mesma temática a fim de examinar quais aspectos mudaram e quais permaneceram na tradição musical do grupo. Os
apontamentos que compõem a discussão deste reestudo etnomusicológico e etnográfico têm como propósito compreender como os Mbya Guarani dão sentido às suas expressões musicais e como percebem os aspectos sincrônicos e diacrônicos de suas performances / The Mbya Guarani are a Guarani-speaking indigenous subgroup that corresponds to a significant amount of the Latin American indigenous population, particularly that situated in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil. In the year of 2002, ethnologist Walmir Pereira (director of the Rio Grande do Sul Anthropological Museum then) and historian Paula Caleffi, a member of the post-graduate program in History at the Sinos
River Valley University (UNISINOS) at the time, were the first to record the Mbya Guarani music in the state, especially that produced by the Mbya in the tekoa Nhundy (Campo Aberto Village), located in the city of Viamão, resulting in the phonographic piece Yvy Ju – The Path of the Land Without Evil. Fourteen years afterwards, this work returns to the same place and theme in order to examine which aspects have
changed and which have remained the same in the group’s musical tradition. The notes in this ethnomusicological and ethnographic restudy aim at understanding how the Mbya Guarani make sense of their musical expressions and how they perceive the diachronic and synchronic aspects in their performances
