Introduktion: Diabetes typ 2 är ett växande globalt folkhälsoproblem som kräver följsamhet och regelbundna kontroller för en god hälsa trots sjukdomen. Diabetes behandlas med livsstilsförändringar och medicinering. Distriktssköterskan ska utifrån sin kompetens jobba hälsofrämjande för att förebygga komplikationer av diabetes. Distriktssköterskan på vårdcentralen stödjer, stärker och vägleder patienter med diabetes typ 2 för ett välreglerat blodsocker. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa distriktssköterskans erfarenheter av att stödja och följa upp patienter med diabetes typ 2 inom primärvården. Metod: Systematisk litteraturstudie. Studien baserades på åtta vetenskapliga artiklar som publicerades mellan åren 2008–2019. Artiklar identifierades genom sökning i elektroniska databaser CINAHL och Pub Med. Artiklarna analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: I studiens resultat framkom två huvudkategorier med underkategorier. Kategorin; faktorer som påverkar förmåga att ge stöd med underkategorierna; Organisatoriska utmaningar och svårigheter och otillräcklig kunskap. Kategorin; utmaningar att stimulera till livsstilsförändringar och egenvård med underkategorierna; Förmedla kunskap, motivation till eget ansvar och livsåskådningar och kulturella skillnader. Konklusion: Organisatoriska utmaningar och svårigheter påverkade distriktssköterskans förmåga att tillhandahålla en optimal diabetesvård och ge stöd till patienter. Distriktssköterskans bristande kunskap med avseende på kompetens utmanade möjligheterna till en optimal livsstilsrådgivning och stöd i det förebyggande hälsoarbetet. Att motivera patienterna till egenansvar var viktigt i det stödjande arbetet för att främja egenvårdsbeslut och delaktighet. / Introduction: Type 2 diabetes is a growing global public health problem which demands adherence and regular controls for keeping good health in the face of the disease. Diabetes is treated with lifestyle changes and medication. The district nurse shall, from their competence, work preventive to prevent complications of diabetes. The district nurse from the health-center supports, strengthens and guides patients with diabetes type 2 for a well-balanced glucose. Aim: The aim of the study was to illustrate the district nurse’s experiences of supporting and following up patients with type 2 diabetes in primary care Method: Systematic literature study. Literature study based on eight scientific articles which were published between the years 2008–2019. The articles were identified through electronic search methods within the database CINAHL and Pub Med. The articles were analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Result: In the study there were two main categories with subcategories. The category; factors which affected the ability to give support with the subcategories; Organizational challenges and difficulties and insufficient knowledge. The category; challenges to stimulate lifestyle changes and self-care with the subcategories; Convey knowledge, motivate personal responsibility and conception of life and cultural differences. Conclusion: Organizational challenges and difficulties affected the district nurse’s ability to provide an optimal diabetes care and give support to the patients. The district nurse’s lack of knowledge concerning the competence challenged the possibilities of an optimal lifestyle counseling and support regarding preventative health work. To motivate the patients to engage in self-care was important in the supportive work to promote self-care decisions and participation.
