The purpose of my thesis is to conduct a historic-geographic analysis of the population development in the contemporary Hradec Králové Region and its spatial differentiation on microregional level. Main focus lies on the industrial period and the analysis of socio-economic factors. The introductory part of the paper explains its main objectives and hypotheses and is further composed of three main chapters. Chapter One provides an outline of the geographical situation and historical development of the contemporary Hradec Králové Region. The following analytical section focuses on the research of the influence of selected factors on the population development of the communities and subsequently on the basis of the provided analysis comes to a differentiation of microregions within the Region. The synthetic part of this study concentrates on the categorization of microregions based on their developmental typology and changes in the population distribution, generalization of developmental trends and search for the key determinants of the population development in the contemporary Hradec Králové Region. In the final chapter conclusions are drawn and evaluation made of the goals and hypotheses set at beginning. The study is also accompanied by spreadsheet, graph and map outputs.
