Previous issue date: 1992 / Resumo: O presente trabalho procura estudar a mineral o peruana do período colonial até os dias atuais, com ênfase especial às mudanças estruturais ocorridas nas década de 70 e80, deste século e às regulamentações legais previstas no Código de Mineração e nas legislações correlatas e que foram responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento do setor mineral do Peru, especialmente dos metais básicos, com destaque para o zinco e sua utilização na área de galvanização. A importância dessa atividade na economia peruana .significativa, pelas suas exportações destes metais que representaram 52X do total exportado nos últimos três anos e sua participação no PIa peruano que girou em torno de 8,4X do seu total. Três coisas relativas a essa "comodit¿ merecem destaque: 1) a interação hoje existente entre países produtores e consumidores de zinco; 2) a previsão da oferta e demanda de zinco até o ano 2.000 e 3) as flutuações cambiais a nível mundial e as eventuais oscilações do preço desse insumo no mercado internacional. Finalmente a dissertação ressalta a evolução da atividade de mineração de zinco no Peru e as suas perspectivas futuras face, especialmente, às mudanças estruturais que ainda devem ocorrer no país, como conseqüência do estímulo à entrada de capital estrangeiros e de investimentos nacionais, públicos e privados resultantes da exportação e do emergente processo de privatização por que passa o País / Abstract: This present work aims to stud_ the evolution of the Peruvian mining setor from the colonial period until the present time, it places particular emphasis on the structural changes wich ocurred during the 1970'. e 1980's on the legal regulation. included in the Hining Code, and associated legislation, responsible for the mineral sector development in Peru. Base metals, notabl_ zinc and its utilization in the area of galvanization. The importance of this activity_ in the Peruvian economy_ is overwhelming manly_ due to (i) the exportation of these metals which has represented 52% of the total exportation in the last three airs, and (ii) their participation in the Peruvian PIB which was approximately_ 8,4X of the total. Three aspects related to this commodity_ are also emphasized:(1)the existing toady_ interaction between Zn-producing and Zn-consuming countries (2) the predicted relationship offend demand up to the _ear 2.000i and (3) the world exchangeable fluctuations and the eventual price oscillations of this commodity_ in the international market. Finally_, this dissertation emphasizes the evolution of the zinc mining activity in Peru and the future perspectives. In face of the structural changes which are still to take place in the country. The latter is a consequence of the incentive gives to foreign money and the national public and private investments, all due ultimately_ to the exportation and to the emerging privatization process in Peru / Mestrado / Mestre em Geociências
