Fiber optics technology is being used in many applications, both in the military world and in the industrial world. A broad overview of this technology is provided, including a discussion of the fundamentals of fiber operation and component characteristics. Applications of fiber optics in both military and industrial communities is addressed, identifying specific examples in both cases.
