Essa bacia localizada no Centro-Leste da América do Sul é usualmente classificada como intracratônica, embora a geometria do preenchimento da bacia, os mecanismos subsidência envolvidos e da idade dos depósitos sejam pouco compreendidos. Neste trabalho, é realizada uma reavaliação das amplitudes estratigráficas dos táxons fósseis presentes nesses depósitos e novas idades são propostas para as unidades litoestratigráficas. Os intervalos estratigráficos do preenchimento da bacia foram reconstruídos por meio de mapas isópacas. A estratigrafia da Bacia Bauru é comparada com bacias adjacentes, e os dados são integrados com as informações disponíveis sobre geodinâmica da América do Sul. Os resultados indicam que os sedimentos foram acumulados do Cenomaniano ao início do Paleoceno, sendo o início da sedimentação concomitante com a Fase Mochica da orogenia andina. A geometria do preenchimento da bacia, analisado por meio de mapas de isópacas dos diferentes intervalos estratigráficos, demostra que ocorreu migração do depocentro da bacia. Tal migração foi simultânea com a migração da frente orogênica andina, imediatamente após a fase de orogenia Peruana. Tais observações indicam que a Bacia Bauru compõe um sistema de retroarco de antepaís desenvolvido durante os estágios iniciais da evolução andina, tendo se desenvolvido na província backbulge deste sistema. A Bacia Andina constituía depozona foredeep desse sistema foreland, incluindo as bacias Potosí, Oriente, Acre e Marañon. Os depósitos cretáceos das bacias do Solimões e Parecis provavelmente se desenvolveram na província back-bulge, como a Bacia Bauru. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The aim of this research is to understand the tectonic and depositional settings of the Bauru Basin. This basin in central eastern South America has been classified as intracratonic, but the basin-fill geometry, the involved subsidence mechanisms and the age of the deposits are poorly understood. In this work, the ranges of the fossil taxa are revised and ages are proposed for the lithostratigraphic units. Isopach maps were used to reconstruct the stratigraphic intervals of the basin fill. The stratigraphy of the Bauru Basin is compared with that of the adjacent basins, and the data are integrated with the available information on South American geodynamics. The fossil record indicates that sediment accumulated from the Cenomanian to early Paleocene, beginning after the Mochica Phase of the Andean orogeny. The basin-fill geometry demonstrates migration of the depocenter through time, which occurred simultaneously with migration of the Andean Basin and immediately after the orogenic events of the Peruvian Phase. The results indicate that the Bauru Basin is a component of a retroarc foreland system developed during the early stages of the Andean evolution and that it was developed in the backbulge province of this system. The Andean Basin constitutes the foredeep depozone of this foreland system (including the Potosí, Oriente, Acre and Marañon basins). In addition, the Upper Cretaceous of the Parecis and Solimões basins were likely also developed in the back-bulge province. The thickness of the Bauru accumulation indicates that other mechanisms might have overlapped the flexural subsidence in this back-bulge province. This research provides a significant addition to the ichnological record of the Bauru Basin.
