Previous issue date: 2001 / Resumo:O objetivo da presente pesquisafoi testar o "Posicionador Mandibular de Sarmento para telerradiografias da cabeça em norma lateral". A hipótese consistiu em verificar a diferença entre as grandezas lineares e angulares pelo método
convencional e as com posicionador mandibular. Foram analisadas oito grandezas angulares (SNA, SNB, ANB, FMA, FMlA, IMPA, ANG.Z e PI.Ocl.) e cinco grandezas lineares (AO-BO, AFA, AFP, QT e LS) e o lAF . Os resultados demonstraram significância estatística ao teste t para dados pareados para as grandezas SNB, FMA e PI.OCL, ao nível de p = 0,01 e 0,05. Com base na análise dos resultados obtidos, concluímos que o dispositivo foi efetivo no controle da estabilidade do terço inferior da face, durante as tomadas telerradiografias da cabeça em norma lateral. As grandezas angulares SNB, FMA e PI.Ocl. apresentaram maior variabilidade quando comparadas com as fornecidas pela tomada de raio X pelo método convencional / Abstract: The objective of the present research went to test the "Sarmento's Mandibular Positioner for cephalometric radiography of the head in lateral norm". The hypothesis consisted of verifying the difterence among the linear and angular
greatness for the conventional method and the with mandibular positioner. Eight angular measurements were analyzed (SNA, SNB, ANB, FMA, FMIA, IMPA, ANG.l and PLOcL) and five linear (AO-BO, AFA, AFP, QT and LS) and IAF. The results demonstrated statistical significance to the test t for SNB, FMA and PLOCL, at the levei of p = 0,01 and 0,05. With base in the analysis of the obtained results, we concluded that the device was eftective in the control of the stability of
the inferior third of the face The angular greatness SNB, FMA and PLOcL they presented larger variability when compared with supplied them for the ray taking X for the conventional method.
