A significativa evo lução que a agricultura brasileira experimentou, principalmente nesta última década, necessitou ser acompanhada por novos processos de produção nas propriedades rurais. As mudanças no ambiente conduziram os produtores rurais a procurar mais agilidade e eficácia, o que necessitou nova postura de gestão, centrada na informação e no conhecimento. Neste estudo, é analisado o processo de criação de conhecimento em propriedades rurais. A amostra foi composta por dois grupos de produtores associados da Cooperativa Tritícola Mista Alto Jacuí Ltda – Cotrijal. Um deles é formado por produtores que participam de um grupo de gerenciamento, os quais utilizam ferramentas gerenciais e o outro grupo é formado por produtores externos ao de gerenciamento. O método utilizado foi um estudo exploratório-descritivo de cunho qualitativo, complementado por dados quantitativos, tendo como base o modelo teórico de criação do conhecimento organizacional de Nonaka e Takeuchi (1997). O estudo demonstrou que os produtores percebem de mane ira crescente a importância do conhecimento, como aspecto diferencial na adaptação às mudanças. Além disso, o processo de criação de conhecimento em propriedades rurais está amparado em três condições essenciais, quais sejam: as pessoas e a emoção associada; o ambiente da propriedade rural, com as regras e políticas próprias, associada à experimentação e os estímulos externos. Para que o novo conhecimento seja criado, é necessário um insight, capaz de iniciar a mudança do modelo mental atual. Os resultados do trabalho contribuem, no plano teórico, com um referencial para utilização em novas pesquisas, e, no plano prático poderá ser utilizado como ferramenta para utilização eficaz de projetos de mudança. / The significant evolution that the Brazilian agriculture has tried, especially during this last decade, needed to be followed by new production processes in the rural properties. Changes in the environment made the rural producers seek more agility and effectiveness, what needed new administration posture, centered in the information and in the knowledge. In this study, the process of knowledge creation is analyzed in the rural properties. The sample was composed by two groups of producers associated of Cooperativa Tritícola Mista Alto Jacuí Ltda – Cotrijal. One of them is formed by producers that take part in the management group, which use managerial tools, and the other group is composed by external producers to the management one. The method was an exploratory-descriptive study of qualitative stamp, complemented by quantitative data, on the basis of the theoretical model of creation of the organizational knowledge by Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997). The study demonstrated that the producers notice, in a growing way, the importance of the knowledge, as a differential aspect in the adaptation to the changes. Besides, the process of knowledge creation in rural properties is aided in three essential conditions, which are: the people and their associated emotion; the atmosphere of the rural property, with its rules and own politics, associated to the experimentation and the external incentives. For the new knowledge creation is necessary an insight, capable to start the change of the current mental model. The results of the work contribute, in the theoretical plan, with a referential to use in new researches, and in the practical plan, it can be used as a tool for effective use of change projects.
