Biosynthesis of phenazine pigments by bacteria.

Studies were made to elucidate the pathways involved in the synthesis of phenazine pigments produced by Pseudomanas species. Iodinin, phenazine-1-carboxylic acid, oxychlororaphine and pyocyanine, though structurally related, have different biosynthetic pathways.
