Previous issue date: 2016-05-04 / It was observed in Brazil in the 1990s, the trade opening, which has brought about profound
changes in the way of production and social organization of some industrial sectors. And
therefore, the productive restructuring ocurred. This restructuring heavily impacted in some
productive sectors, taking as an example the textile, which adopted measures such as the
breaking of its vertical structure, outsourcing and subcontracting some of this operations
related to sewing. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of corporate restructuring
in the textile sector and its determinants in the increase of textile companies in Ibirama-SC.
Thus, there was a review of sociospatial formation of the city of Ibirama, from the beginning
of its colonization and its socio-economic development; the characterization of the local
production chain, compared to the restructuring process from the 1990s to the present. The
theoretical framework of the research relied on the geographical perspective of sociospatial
formation (M. Santos), the reflections on the Brazilian and world economic development (I.
Rangel) and A. Mamigonian’s works , which discusses the economic dynamism of Southern
Brazil. The methodology was qualitative, with the use of documentary sources, such as
literature review, collection and systematization of data and information available in various
institutions (unions, associations, IBGE, city hall, FIESC). The empirical research included
conducting semi-structured interviews and scripts. The research universe were six (6) factions
in the city of Ibirama. It was evident the increase in subcontracting process in the region of
Alto Vale do Itajai, the Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises, with the textile
companies. Another aspect observed was the closure of units of Hering in the municipalities
of Rodeio and Ibirama, a precisely consequence of the restructuring process. If the installation
of Hering in Ibirama and region impacted positively, resulting in a geographical transfer of
value, the closure of its activities in 2016 showed an impact on the lives of hundreds of
workers who have had and will have to restructure their lives. / Na década de 1990, observou-se no Brasil a abertura comercial, que trouxe profundas mudanças na forma de produção e organização social de alguns setores industriais, mormente a chamada reestruturação produtiva. Essa reestruturação impactou fortemente alguns setores produtivos, como o têxtil, que adotou medidas como a quebra de sua estrutura verticalizada, terceirização e subcontratação de algumas dessas operações relacionadas à costura. O principal objetivo deste estudo foi analisar os impactos da reestruturação produtiva no setor têxtil e suas determinantes no aumento das facções têxteis em Ibirama-SC. Para tanto, revisou-se a formação sócio-espacial do município de Ibirama, desde o início da sua colonização e sua evolução socioeconômica; e a caracterização da cadeia produtiva local frente à reestruturação produtiva, da década de 1990 até o presente. O referencial teórico da pesquisa apoiou-se na perspectiva geográfica de formação sócio-espacial (M. Santos), nas reflexões sobre o desenvolvimento econômico brasileiro e mundial de I. Rangel e na obra de A. Mamigonian, que discute o dinamismo econômico do Brasil Meridional. A metodologia aplicada foi de ordem qualitativa, com o uso de fontes documentais, como revisão bibliográfica, levantamento e sistematização de dados e informações disponíveis em instituições diversas, como sindicatos, associações, IBGE, prefeitura, FIESC. A pesquisa empírica compreendeu a realização de entrevistas com roteiros semiestruturados, cujo universo englobou seis (6) facções do município de Ibirama. Ficou evidenciado o aumento do processo de subcontratação de facções na região do Alto Vale do Itajaí pelas micro, pequenas e médias empresas. Outro aspecto observado foi o fechamento de unidades da Hering nos municípios de Rodeio e Ibirama, fruto justamente do processo de reestruturação. Se a instalação da Hering em Ibirama e região impactou de forma positiva, resultando numa transferência geográfica de valor, o encerramento de suas atividades em 2016 evidenciou um impacto na vida de centenas de trabalhadores, que tiveram e continuam tendo de reestruturá-la.
