Previous issue date: 1991 / Resumo: Não informado / Abstract: A model of track formation in polymeric solid state nuclear track detectors is proposed, where the contribution of the secondary energy deposition plays a fundamental role. ln the model, the threshold impact parameter for a restricted energy loss rate is connected with the energy density deposited at the periphery of the latent track. A general algorithm is presented. The theoretical results are then compared to observations of the heavy fraction of the primary cosmic radiation, from an experiment accomplished by the Departamento de Raios Cósmicos e Cronologia-UNICAMP, in 1986 / Doutorado / Física / Doutor em Ciências
